I wanted to write a post on something different today, something that is not craft related in anyway.
So my subject is on a healthy food item – coconut oil.
Why is coconut oil so healthy? Well this oil contains saturated fats which is beneficial with boosting your brain with quick energy. It is also beneficial for raising the good HDL cholesterol in the blood and this lowers your risk of heart disease. The saturated fats also helps boost the body with burning fat.
Coconut oil has so many health benefits.
The fats provided by coconut oil go to the liver and they are used a energy source or turned into ketones. These ketones are beneficial for the brain. There are studies trying to prove that coconut oil can be a treatment for epilepsy and Alzheimer’s
Coconut oil can help with weight-loss as it reduces your hunger pangs. It also helps with fighting bacterial (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus), viral, yeast ( e.g.Candida albicans) and fungal infections when digested.
And coconut oil has many benefits for the skin, hair and teeth.
Coconut oil can be bought anywhere, almost all stores stock this amazing oil. I buy mine from a health store as it stocks it in 1kg tubs. I use this oil all the time and buying larger quantities have worked out cheaper for me. I have used coconut oil as a toothpaste for more than a year and I have noticed a few changes in my mouth. Firstly, my teeth don’t get a build-up of plaque as quickly as they did when I used shop bought toothpaste. Another thing I noticed is that my root canal tooth is not sensitive to temperature anymore. And I can make any flavour of toothpaste that tickles my fancy. And I have also found the oil to help my dry lips and the surrounding skin (I ride a motorcycle and the wind tends to dry out my lips and surrounding skin). The excess oil that runs down my toothbrush, runs onto my hand and this has kept my hands nicely nourished.
