Recycled Crochet Caddies

IMG_0499

I have been making these lovely crochet caddies inspired by Zhaya Designs Amigurumis.

I love making these dolls and I have been using them as a way to recycle empty water bottles, and empty cardboard cereal boxes. I use the bottle, cut in half for the bottom of the doll and I put a rock into the bottom to give it weight. Then I place a cardboard disk on top of the cut bottle so that I don’t need to stuff the bottle and then I stuff the torso and head with teddy stuffing. The arms are also stuffed with teddy stuffing. This is the way I reduce plastic and card being thrown into the bin and I also cut cost with using less teddy stuffing.

And to top it all, I get therapy from the crocheting.

Mug Cozies

Are you not tired of your cup of hot beverage cooling down too quickly? Well, I am tired of that happening to my cup of goodness. So I thought about it and realized teapots have cozies for that very problem, why not make a cozy for my cup?

Here is a pattern I wrote up and I have been making these and selling them faster than I can make them. Hope you like the pattern. (I don’t usually write up patterns for others to use. So I hope you can understand the instructions.)

Basic Mug Cozy

Hook: 3.5mm

Wool: suitable for the hook

Pattern:

Ch46 sts.

In second ch from hook, hdc, and in remaining chs, hdc.

Ch2, Hdc across all sts for 12 rows.

13th Row: ch 17, hdc across.

Finish off.

I used the basic cozy and added different finishes to the basic base.

Tunisian entrelac crochet

This project has taken me so long to complete. I’m using the small balls of wool, the ones that are to small to do much with other than make amigurumi, to complete this project. I started it on the 12/June/2016. It’s been a long time and now I should get it finished

Rock painting

I tried my hand at rock painting, and found that I like it. It’s very therapeutic and so much fun to paint the little rocks. I bought a 20kg bag of rocks from the garden shop and at the time thought 20kg was going to be too much. Now I’m thinking of buying another bag.

Pegs

These cute and bright pegs are a perfect gift for children. They can use them to close their favourite packet of chips. These can be used to hang up sticky reminders on notice boards. There is so many options for these cuties.

All the equipment needed to make these are as follows:

Wooden pegs

Foam boards

Glue

Scissors

Sharpies

And last but not least…..imagination!!!

I am a person who never seems to complete a project. I like to start something and then while I am busy with that project I see another one that looks interesting. So I leave the first project and start on the new one. Here is all the projects I have made and still making over the days…just to show a few.
